Erika Moon said her 4-year-old son, Isaac, got around a baby gate and opened a window at their home at 12 American Legion Highway on the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 17, the outlet reports. Live Boston said multiple crews were on the scene.

"He opened the gate that's blocking my window and he opened the window. He leaned out and 'boom,' he fell out the window," Moon told WHDH. "I heard the boom, so I went running down and I picked him up. He wasn't breathing."

Isaac was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, Boston25 said citing authorities. Moon is now asking for support during this difficult time.

"God please don't do this to me please every one keep my family in your prayers as we need them more than ever," she wrote on Facebook

A GoFundMe has also been set up to help support Moon as Isaac recovers. People can donate by clicking here.

Meanwhile, Boston police announced that the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Boston homicide detectives, and officers from the crimes against children division are taking part in the investigation.
